Bug

Kaitlyn- (nickname Katie Bug)  My oldest, My ginnypig of sorts. She was born to young parents and was raised in a strict but very loving way. She has grown up with us in a sense. She has made us much better people. & She has a gift for touching people's life. She has always loved to write. This is her favorite thing to do even today. As I homeschool her, I incorporate writing in creative ways to integrate her love for it. Homeschooling has always been the way I wanted to go. But being a christian woman & a married woman, my timing is not always when thing get done or started. I got serious about researching homeschooling 2 years before we even got started. http://youtu.be/rIOogqa-5GA     I wanted to be sure that I would be able to effectively teach my children. I knew my children would enjoy staying home with me and learning at home since I was always a mother that was very structural with activities with the kids. I started first homeschooling over the summer. As I did this & the children reacted in a wonderful way. My love for teaching them at home grew. When we place Kaitlyn into a public middle school, I was nervous but didn't want her to be so I hid it from her. I tried to make it a exciting time for her.  She & us only made it through the 1st quarter before we made our finally decision about pulling her out and homeschooling. She is extremely bright and has always been in gifted classes. After starting the 1st week and having her home with me, I knew we had made the right choice. We do take it yr by yr. I would love to keep going through high school but we will have to see. We only took her out at this time and have chosen to start each child as they move into middle school. I still continue to homeschool all three over the summer. I would love to chat with people about homeschooling or answer questions about getting started. I am not really anti public school as I still have 2 in the public school system. I really love their school. I don't believe everyone is meant to homeschool. I know many families who their children would do worse at home than at a public school. We have never done any type of private school so I can not say much about that. We didn't chose that route because we felt God was saying homeschool was a better option for our family. Not to mention the fact of the money issue. I have to say a big thank you to all my homeschool friends who have helped in guiding us in our 1st year of this journey. Kaitlyn is excelling being homeschooled. We all love this option! Lots more on Homeschooling to come in future posts.
